As a teacher, it is important to me to communicate my values and philosophies to others. My philosophy on teaching provides insight on the fundamental elements that guide my teaching practices.
Below is a brief outline of my teaching philosophy:
- I believe that an environment where cooperative learning is used will prepare students to be successful in their future careers.
- Taking "academic risks" is beneficial for growth.
- Facilitating discussions centered on benefits of academic "risk taking" will help students reflect on the knowledge they gained from taking risks.
- I will continually look for opportunities to tell my students how important they are. Small examples of how I will do this may be leaving a note of encouragement or thanks in their cubby or calling a parent to notify them of an act of kindness that I witnessed their child display. Overall, I will strive to encourage and foster positive behavior in my students.
- Continual development and education is integral in order for me to keep growing as a teacher and serve as a role model for what it means to be a "lifelong" learner to my students.
